The Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) will co-host the second annual 2017 Entomological Collections Management workshop with the Field Museum. The workshop will be led by co-instructors Dr. David G. Furth (Furth Museum Consulting), Dr. Jennifer M. Zaspel (MPM), Dr. Crystal A. Maier (FMNH), and Dr. Floyd W. Shockley (Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History). This is the first time MPM has hosted the workshop. “This workshop will bring expert entomology collections staff, digitization project managers, and students from across the USA together to learn about best curatorial practices and advanced specimen digitization,” said Dr. Zaspel, Research Curator and Head of Zoology, MPM. “It is the first Entomological Collections Management Workshop to include both management and digitization topics. MPM is the perfect venue choice, given both its significant holdings of insect specimens and ongoing digitization efforts.” The workshop is sponsored by Entomological Collections Network (ECN), Systematics, Evolution, and Biodiversity Section (SysEB) of the Entomological Society of America (ESA), MPM, FMNH, and the Purdue Entomological Research Collection. It will run from July 16 through July 20 with participants at MPM for four days. TEST CONTENT
