FACE YOUR FEARS AT NEW MUSEUM EXHIBIT, SPIDERS ALIVE!

WHAT:  Arachnophobia is one of the most common fears in the western hemisphere, making these eight-legged creatures either loved or hated. Visitors at the Milwaukee Public Museum’s (MPM) new exhibit, Spiders Alive!,  will get up close with real, live, exotic spiders and other fascinating arthropods through January 12, 2020.

Opening to the public on October 5, 2019, this special exhibition, originally created by the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) and owned and managed by Peeling Productions, is family-friendly fun that gives visitors the chance to:

  • See 17 species of live spiders from around the world.
  • Learn about spiders’ anatomy and signature traits, like venom and silk-making.
  • Discover little-known defense mechanisms such as mimicry and noise-making.
  • Climb on a spider model that’s 50x larger than its life-sized counterpart!
  • See a rare 100-million-year-old fossil of a spider in limestone.

The Milwaukee Public Museum invites you to our Member Preview Day to experience the exhibit with our MPM family.
